Deliveries

Deliveries

The sky is moving - blue, grey, pink and clear with clouds. The temperature is 57 degrees fahrenheit. Today is Saturday.

If you look for even a short while, you can see how we are moving through the universe. The sky tells us sometimes about how we are spinning and how the movement feels relatively slow - clouds and colors gently make their way across the sky and remnants of the moon can be seen, hidden one moment and in full view the next. Today it matches the things that will need to get done.

There will be a lot of different things to be delivered from one place to another. People, and things will be on the move.

The earliest will be a drop into downtown, where the idea of flowers will be visited at the immense, fragrant, and colorful mart. The vendors have been there for decades, prepping the blooms for florists, churches, and people who just want to have color come into their homes or venues. The delivery today will be back to the house, where a private test of what works and does not work for a special event will be tested.

The next delivery will be for food. Parents who are blessed to be living near their children will have another visit, bringing food (and today - flowers), into the home. It is a struggle to age, and the little things - like deliveries of food - make their day. In every way, this one is a blessing at work. Of course, the additional feeling of being cared for, seen, and taken care of delivers a measure of comfort as well. And comfort is something we all can use these days, whether home-bound or out and about.

Another delivery will happen in the evening as we prepare for a night of music and support for a wonderful cause: music in sacred spaces. There, the delivery will be of black and white chocolates, homemade (between the food drop and the event in the evening) and filled with almonds. A healthy and sweet addition to an evening we can anticipate being nothing short of lovely, with vocals and instrumental melodies that will carry us to the end of yet another day.

Surely there are deliveries that you will make in this day, too.

It's a great feeling to know that small gestures, large gestures, and those that fall somewhere in-between, are the kinds of gifts we carry both in our arms and in our hearts. Even if the recipient doesn't know the care that is being brough into their lives, the deliverer knows.

After all, that is what matters - the one who is always there, even without being there, knows.
