Step & Repeat

It's 48 degrees fahrenheit and the weather is supposed to be clear and sunny on this day. Today is Wednesday.
We are what's happening now in the world. Like it or not, the fact of the tragedy and harm that is occurring on the planet, is thanks to how we live. We are destroying our precious opportunity to exist. The idea of progress in civil society is met with setbacks time and again. Moving forward in embracing our ability to create a world that recognizes that we are all related, seems to be met time and again with a return to animal instincts. Those instincts include killing and devouring whatever we can in order to survive. It leads us to step forward, then back, repeat. And we make the same mistakes again and again when it comes to the fundamental purpose of existence.
Like it or not, the truth is that we are living in a reality that is a product of our collective energy - whether your politics say yes or no to what is happening. We create and/or contribute to making either happiness or misery for one another. In our enthusiasm to be the winners, we tend to forget that there are among us, those who don't feel the same joy and cause for celebration as those who seek "victory". The victory celebrations look like threats. The entry of new faces in leadership gives rise to feelings of displacement. The emergence of people once invisible creates anxiety for those who fear anything that disrupts the old order. In life, there is no going back but there is always the possibility of making the same mistakes over and over again.
We know our capacities to both give and take life. Anyone who is fortunate to live into adulthood knows that there will be both joy and disappointment as time goes by. Most importantly, what we learn over time is that all things are interconnected and that the meaning of "step and repeat" is not just tied to taking photographs at an event. It is how we, as one species called "human" collectively behave. That behavior leads us to whatever reality comes into existence.
Our current reality is full of examples of how we can degrade trust, and manipulate our fears and anxieties about the unfamiliar. Is there a way to move into the unknown, with curiosity and an open heart? Rather than allow doubt to lead the way, it would be amazing to let ourselves move into the unknown with deep reverence for what may exist beyond our knowledge and understanding. What is the universal energy that has given life since the beginning of time? What makes it so challenging is our desire to always be in control. That control leads us to the step and repeat mistakes. And the repeat is the violence, deaths, destruction of worlds. There must be a way out of this trajectory. Thankfully, there are among us people who are working on this. May our eyes finally open.
