Sources

The sky above the water is looking a little grey and the sun is still rising.  It's going to be another beautiful, bright day and temps will cool again this week, but for now, 52 degrees fahrenheit feels good.  Time for a walk.  Today is Saturday.

The things that give us nourishment, body and soul, are abundant - one has to remember this because so much of what is happening in the world steals away that which nourishes, inspires, affirms living.  It seems important to find ways to trick the trickster, sometimes.

The full moon left us this week, and the remnants of her magic linger.  The thing that lingers this morning is remembering she is a source.  Sources are infinite in their offerings. Sometimes in the ground, sometimes in the sky, sometimes in the imagination.  People can also be sources - their being and doing contribute to the solutions that we need, individual and collective.  How to find and use these sources of vibrancy in life is the question.

The answers sometimes come very quickly, especially when it is a small challenge to be met.  The more complex the challenge, of course, may require more effort - or maybe not, if one is lucky.  The thing about finding a source (as opposed to a REsource), is that it is the primary spot.  In other words, it is like reading the news and knowing that the source of the information one is reading or hearing, has a source.  Knowing what the source is could shift understanding, interpretation, beliefs.  But rarely do we look to the source;  we find ourselves satisfied with the story, as is.  Too much trouble to go looking deeper.

It's not so easy to go to the source.  There are so many layers, nooks, crannies, twists, turns, and that's how it is.  The source is not very accessible, by design. This is what makes people who get curious - deeply curious - begin that search. It is always troublesome, time consuming, requires "out of the box" action. It can be maddening, disappointing, another failure without persistence in the pursuit.

The source is meaningful in so many ways because ultimately, it is a question about who you are, what you are, how you live.  I love that almost everything we share ends up with these kinds of questions.  Human beings, at a certain point, want to know about these unanswerable questions.  There are many when it comes to our existence.  This seems to be why there are seekers who look in all kinds of places and to all kinds of people.  Places hold a vibration that suggests there is an important source of knowing, the sacred can be felt.  Certain people have access to realms that cross over all space and time.  There are rituals that open the portals to sources of understanding life itself.

In the process of living, and moving toward the sources that sustain life, one is fortunate if the questioning and search becomes a part of the experience.  For those who never encounter the question about how to get to the source (or sources), theirs may be a more peaceful existence!
