The day opened with slightly more warmth at 52 degrees fahrenheit but reports are that temperatures will drop into the 30's this week.  Skies are not heavy, but not exactly light with cloud cover over the ocean and a little fog layer on the water. One can feel the opening coming with the energy moving - kiai is more lively this day. Rain is on its way.  It's Tuesday.

Dreaming is a subject of conversations among friends who are watching what is happening in the world and questioning whether dreams, intentions, aspirations can create course corrections.  Dreaming has been a legacy that many have been able to keep over generations.  Immigrants come into this country with dreams. What happens to those dreams?

Throughout life, we look to dreams to help bring something into existence, to solve dilemmas, to take a break from the daily demands that accompany our waking moments.  Dreams sometimes come in color and bring music.  It is a different kind of reality to dream and to connect to another part of life.

Yes, there are those dreams that turn into nightmares - this too is a part of how it is: there are both welcome and unwelcome events that happen in life.  Why not make space for encountering the inevitable moments of surprise that we would rather not experience?  Those dreams offer "practice opportunities" - to come into the waking world with a chance to consider how one might respond in a situation unwanted. Then, to prepare for the possibility of the undesirable by thinking of what options might be available, prompted by a dream.  Use the dream/nightmare; don't be used by them.

In using the dream - is it possible to manifest something that is more affirming of life than the conflicts, the tragedy of gun deaths, the corruption among politicians? It must be possible because there are so many who are working toward (and through) visions that are both life-affirming possibilities and traumas caused by the unseen and unpredictable events that everyone will know one day.

The thing that is different in this moment in time is that there seems to be a growing number of people who want to turn toward, not away, from the conditions that need a different problem-solving process.  Dreaming is another kind of skill and it can be done in sleeping or waking states.  It is for some, a survival skill and for others, a way to deepen capacity to explore the vast unknown, to find restoration, to reach reconciliation.

In these times, we need to find the courage to move into the unknown.  What we know will not sustain humanity.  The current collective condition requires dreamers to engage this skill.  Everyone needs to find the courage to dream into living and life, fully.  It seems our very existence depends on the beauty of those dreams to happen and the manifestations of some of those dreams to come into being.

It's just a different way to work.  So dream now.
