Center
The day began grey again, the temperature is 57 degrees fahrenheit. It is the last day of 2024 and it is Tuesday.
Opening a message that said, "Where there is center, there is circumference and any action that takes place within that area is limited, fragmented, and therefore a waste of energy."
Well, that's a different take on what the word means: center; to be centered; to engage in centering yourself; to center an issue; and beyond that - whatever may need attention because things are just out of balance. The year's end brings us to an inclination (or perhaps a need) to imagine what is possible in a world that might be open, not centered, and not bound by any circumference. Sounds like something that is unimaginable - but maybe not.
Could not being centered mean one is entirely open and willing to ride the energy that comes in the description of flow?
Might it be possible for us all to release ourselves from the desire to be centered in life, and to instead, be in flow with all that living brings and all that happens in our world? Might we invite life to engage us moment-by-moment, and in each moment choose to care, to be kind, to be open? How do we practice this as we go?
The answer is not so hard or obscure - it is deceptively simple. And in today's world, simplicity is not the way we live. We enter this shared space called life - very centered. When life in the form of birth arrives, our bodies are literally balled up and in a funny way, it expresses how we begin - very centered.
Then, as soon as we arrive, we are more often than not - opened just enough to connect with the mother who is waiting and the little ball has its first experience in "letting go" and moving into relationship. If fortunate, that relationship is one that is nurturing and warm and can fill the little being with wordless love. Holding that relationship for as long as reasonably possible is what gives way to the rest of it.
That is, all the ways in which we find ourselves ever-expanding in how we relate - to people, to environments, to creativity, and everything else that makes for a person to let go so there is no center, no circumference, no limit to what life may have to offer.
Almost all of us have the ability to lose the center - and this may be the very thing that is missing in our world today. We have forgotten that there is an aspect of the basic life force that is to open us so there is no center, no circumference, no fear.
Why? Because we all will return to ourselves and another kind of center naturally - to that little ball that will break through.
Imagine that as "center".
