The day is clear, and warm. The morning skies are blue and the sun is sharing the space with the moon. A big moon is going to appear tonight. The temperature is 66 degrees fahrenheit. Today is Monday.

Whenever things start to feel unstable, there is one thing that doesn't seem to change - the brilliance of light that comes with each day. It doesn't matter where we are, what we are feeling, how things are going in life - the light comes through. People add to the energy of what light brings. We do this by how we engage each day, whether it is starting with a gentle moment of silent meditation that allows the transition from sleep to waking state; or, ensuring that we open ourselves to a day with thoughts that will affirm our place and our actions as the day begins.

Even if things are not going the way we would want, there is a way to embrace that as part of a reality that needs attention, then gently set the burden aside because after all, you are being given a chance to start again.

And that is what is also brilliant. This kind of brilliance is about the energy and the quality of the way life works. Every moment, and each day brings what we might call "a new opportunity" to live into our own, unique, and precious lives. It isn't always discernible – that aspect of you that is so special. But if you are able to read these words, you are already being offered the chance to recognize your very special being. Simply choosing to sit and read a few hundred words that have no purpose other than to share - is a choice that says, "I want to connect and I want to be provoked into moving beyond myself today."

For most of us, the world asks that we consider our own needs and prioritize ourselves. "Take care of yourself first, then you can help others." But the reality is that our tendency as human beings is to feel there is constantly more that we need to do, or gather, or achieve before we can just stop and realize that we are already in a place of being able to see the needs of others.

So, sometimes it takes a terrible disappointment, failure, set-back of some kind to make us stop and realize that we are missing something. And often that something is not being connected to anything that is truly meaningful in life - like caring for another human being that doesn't have capacity to care for themselves, like appreciating the blessing of friendships that nurture the soul, like being able to take a walk in a place that offers a glimpse of how other life forms exist on this planet - as in the forest, or by the sea, or in the mountains. Brilliant.

Every day, the brilliance of life comes through - illuminating more that our ability to see with the eyes!
