Another Time
This place is sunny and bright and cool at 52 degrees fahrenheit. The east coast can be overcast and unpredictable in terms of rain this season, but today is sunny and clear. That's a good thing as we have plans to be in gardens most of the day Today is Friday and the time is flying.
Different spaces can bring one into different times. The reminder that we live in a cyclical reality, not a linear one, makes itself known when one travels to places that were established long ago. The architecture, the spacing, the local art, and the people are all sources of history and stories about the evolution of a community and our world. Sitting in a cafe, off of Tremont with music at a volume loud enough to remind you that it's time to WAKE UP, is a part of this travel experience. The best thing about this spot so far, is the light and the view of an old library built of stone and slate.
The people are the same and yet, so very different from California. Maybe it's the area - near an educational hospital that is training future doctors, nurses, and medical administrators. Theirs is field that is filled with challenges and paradox - the healing work sits side by side with economics. Individuals who choose this area of work will likely struggle with the question of purpose over profits one day. That's a topic for another day.
Today, the overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude and living in these times. As crazy as things are today, the work that has presented itself is one that invites thought and action directly tied to another time - reflecting and planning about possible futures. Living now, and experiencing the effect of different "time zones" helps.
Perhaps it is the difference in the clock, or maybe it is the shift of energy with the people who seem to carry a different kind of intensity in this part of the continent. It might even be the architecture - the buildings hold so much in their bones. People who have come and gone; events of a different time that led to the present (their future); or perhaps a remodel to meet the needs of their moment in times past. Who knows? It is just an energy that comes from buildings that serve the needs of the humans living now.
The thing to understand is that the phenomenon of time and space travel is real. Through all of space and time, we find ourselves in the now, and the now is always connected to the past and the future. We can feel it in ourselves, and it is manifest in everything that happens and is a part of our present. In many ways, things of the past reach into our present and ask that we move closer to our future as "One".
Travel to another time zone. Experience an amazing way to touch into another part of now - past and future.
